Bottle Blowing Balloon

B is for Bottle Blowing Balloon

My son is so into the whole Science thing, it is fun!! When he wakes up in the morning first thing he says is Mommy, what kind of trick are we going to do today. It's too cute. I found this in a kid science book at the learning store.

Fun easy NOT a big mess!!!

Materials:
Plastic bottle....bigger the better we found out.
Vinegar....about a cup or so not too much
Baking soda
Balloon...we used 8 inch, pack from Dollar Tree
Funnel............if you let the kids do the pooring

How to:
Fill bottle up with vinegar, then fill the balloon up with baking soda. I(adult) placed the balloon on the  bottle, then let J hold it up to have the baking soda drop in the bottle.

The gas from the vinegar and baking soad mixing cause the balloon to blow-up.

Adding baking soda to balloon

Pouring vinegar in bottle

Showing you how I placed the balloon on, then let him lift it.

Blowing up

J thought this was too cool we did this 3 times

Then he played alittle pouring it back and forth

DIY............Word blocks

We love playing the game Jenga and the kids love to knock down when mommy/daddy are playing. So couple weeks ago I ran into the Family Dollar to get some learning things and came across this $5.00 box that was like Jenga.(Can't get a kids game for that inexpensive)
So I got 1 box and thought hey I can let the kids play when we are playing. To add alittle learning to it I wrote site works on them.
The kids love them and have been having a blast playing with them.

Materials:
Jenga or like Jenga game
Sharpie marker

J slid down the slide but didn't knock it down.

Fun at the Playseum

Well today was just a fun day to enjoy time with our friends. We went to a place called Playseum and the kids love it. I keep telling my husband one day I will have one of these places.

It's a play place for the kids, but the lady has several different rooms all set up with different themes....example: grocery store, craft room, pizza room, pet shop, dress-up, construction with sand box and bakery.

Let's Skate

Great fun using gross motor skills. J has been asking for some skates since he saw them on TV couple weeks ago. So I was out the other day and went in this Thrift store by us that get all kinds of GREAT things and found these skates still in the package brand new for $6.90 SOLD. I was so happy. Even though he was asking for them wasn't too sure he was going to like them. Well have to say they were a hit. Love having wood floors cause the kids can still have fun when it is Winter or yucky outside. Nothing a mop and vacuum can clean.

Before we went J and C just hung out. J was roller skating around the house. Love having wood floors.

Simple way to make a glow lantern for kids to have fun outside for camping, hanging out or even to use inside for a night light.

How to make:
Crack the glow stick, then cut it at the top and poor liquid in the jar, then add the glitter, close the lid, shake it up and there you have a glow in the dark lantern.

National Air & Space Museum

                          Fun in D.C.
Today we had a fun family day!! We took the kids to the National Air & Space Museum for the the 1st time. J loved it thought all the airplanes were cool....I asked him what was your favorite part and he said seeing the airplane with the spare tires.
The things that kids find so interesting is pretty funny. Back in December Daddy had a flat tire and so I told J we had to meet him to get it fixed. Ever since then he has been all into this spare tire thing.

There was a plane you could get in and pretend and they loved it.

J loved all the hands on things

Turning the wheel
J was having a blast throwing pennies......he loves water
J and C wanted to go climb the ladder with the astronauts.

She was telling Daddy more....she liked throwing the pennies to.

Fun Science with coke

J is so into all this fun Science stuff. The other day I was in the craft store A.C. Moore and they wanted $7.99 for a pack of mentos with string connected to this plastic top to make a Science project, so I read the back on how to do it. Bought the stuff a lot cheaper then what they wanted for it. Make sure you do this outside!!!

Materials:
Coke in a plastic bottle (2 liter)....you can use generic brand it works as well.
Mentos pack
String...we used it in the picture but you don't have to can just drop mentos in the soda

How to:
We ties the mentos to the sting, but then did it again later cause my son LOVED this and just dropped the 3 mentos in the coke and watch out cause it will go very high.

If your kids like science, like we do be sure to check out our Science Board. Below are some of our favorites.

Walk the line

            Make your own balance beam

We were playing outside enjoying this pretty day and my son has been playing with the left over wood from making the sensory table for weeks now. So as I was watching him play I said J let momma see the wood for a min. I put the pieces together and made a balance beem and we walked back and fourth on it for about 30 min.

Creative Play

Materials:
2x4 wood cut up into different lengths

As he was walking down the line J said mom this looks like the letter "T"

So I made the letter "L"

Potato stamping

                          P is for Potato

Today's magic letter was "P"....last night I was cleaning up the kitchen and there was a potato that needed to be used so the light went off(in my head) lets use it to paint with. This morning my 3 yr old got up and said mom what craft do you have for me to do today, I said we are going to potato paint for the letter P. Well he just thought that was the funniest thing ever. Mom you are silly you eat potatoes not paint with them. Was just too cute.

Then for lunch we had a picnic.

J was having a blast
