Turkey word ending and matching bath learning

We have been doing learning games in the bath for awhile and I didn't do one last week due to the storm (Sandy) and then traveling, so last night "J" said mom when are we going to do a fun learning bath.

So we did, I got out the turkey's I bought on sale at Micheal's and then cut out some feathers and made a matching game with word endings.

"J" had a fun time, and I have to say he was really into learning and pronouncing the words with me.

If you have a little one that is having a hard time focusing with learning for math, reading or writing taking the time to do this in the bath is a great way to bond and help your kid learn.

It's a hands on thing and alot of kids like that way of learning.

Word ending we used:
"OP" with the words cop, mop, top, and hop
"AN" with words man, ran, tan, fan, and can
"AT" with words sat, hat, cat, mat, and fat

After we played the game in the tub, I came back in the bath room and "J' matched them up again and thought it was too cool they floated. Different way to learn as well.
If you like the fun learning in the bath be sure to check out Fall Leaf number learning bath and Alphabet learning bath.

If you give a Cat a cupcake

We love all the books "If you give a" by Laura Joffe Numeroff. It makes "J" laugh each time we read them and we read them over and over.

So today we read "If you give a Cat a cupcake" and made rainbow cupcakes. They turned out so cute and colorful.

We mixed kool-aid to get the rainbow look, and the cupcakes tasted so YUMMY!!

Very fun little project to do with the kids tied in with this cute little book.

Materials:
White cake mix.....and the things listed on the box for the mix.
Then we placed mix in different bowls and added a sprinkle of the kool-aid mix to each bowl. Each bowl had a different color.

Ladybug mobile out of recycled egg carton

We painted and made a recycled craft with our left over egg cartons since we have alot from Easter.

We read The Grouchy Ladybug and 10 little ladybugs since we are working with numbers.

Thought it would be fun to make something ladybug, so we did.

Materials:
Colored paint
String/yarn
Egg carton
2 wood sticks
Black puff paint (used for line and dots for ladybugs)

First I took the sticks and crossed them to make a X and tied the yarn around the center, second had J paint the ladybugs. Let them dry then we painted the stripe and dots with puff paint. Then I poked the holes on the top of the egg carton and pulled yarn thru.

Painting the egg carton

Adding the dots for the ladybug

R is for Recycled Rocket

Today we read the boy Curious George and the Rocket, so we made a rocket for the letter R. Cute little book to go along with making a rocket.

We are also working on numbers so it is fun to do the count down for blast off.

Took paper towel roll for the base and then for the top of the rocket used left over plastic egg.

After making this rocket my 3yr old son played with it all day. Kept doing the blast off and then got a stick and was acting like it was the launch pad.
