Bubble goop letter learning

Goop and bubbles are fun to play with so we mixed them together to make a fun sensory letter learning.

I took our letter ice trays and made colored ice with them and then added it to our play. You can also use the dollar letter magnets that are plastic they work great as well.

Simple, fun and learning at the same time.

You can buy the ice trays here. Letter Ice Trays There is a lot you can do with these trays from sensory play to bath play.

 Cate made alphabet soup

Making the ARRR sound for the letter "R"

As Cate would pick out the letters we would say the sound along with the letter.

She loved it.

Below are some other fun sensory ways we worked on letters in the past.

Magic Jello ice

Kids love science and we are always exploring to fine new things to do with things around the house. Back in March we made Fizzing Shamrocks and since then we have been messing around to make a better mold.

Well we came up with it and had a lot of fun playing with our Magic Jello Ice Stars. They are simple to make and super fun.

All you need to do is mix about 3 tsp of jello with 1/2 cup of hot water, once the jello is dissolved then mix with about 1-2 cups of baking soda. Don't make it too thick you want it a little runny to pour into the ice trays. (We got our start ice trays from Dollar Tree)

Then let it freeze and you have your magic jello ice.

Place on a tray and make them erupt and bubble with vinegar. Once the vinegar dissolve them you will have a goop like sensory play.

NOTE: You can make them with Kool-Aid as well.

This is a fun experiment for all ages.

We love ice play be sure to check out some other fun ice things we have done.

Ocean and lighthouse sensory play

The kids love imaginary play. We have had some hot days and are so ready for the beach. So I set up a fun sensory bin for them. They had a blast playing with it.

I used sand and jello for the ocean water. I love how real the water looks and Jake loved the feel of it.

To put this together was very simple. All you need is some ocean creatures, sand, and jello. I made the jello the night before and had Jake help and then it was ready the next day for them to play with.

This sensory play is great for the imagination, learning about different sea animals, and great hands on play as well.

Jake even dug in the sand and made little sand castles. After he was done playing we talked about the different animals that lived in the ocean.

Below are some other fun sensory bins we have done.

100 Days of Play with kids

We are taking part in the 100 days of play blog hop co-hosted by Sun Scholars and Life at the Zoo, the 100 Days of Play Blog Hop combines 100 blogs from around the world and 100 days to showcase simple ways to play.

So today we put together this fun, simple and inexpensive frog sensory learning game. The kids loved it and while playing  they were learning numbers as well.

Cate my 2 y/o was counting and matching numbers. While Jake my 4 y/o was counting and adding the frogs.

Materials:
Craft foam
Frogs (Dollar Tree)
Container
Rocks (optional)
Numbers (we used plastic magnet numbers from Dollar Tree)
Water

This sensory bin is a fun hands on way for kids to learn and parents/teachers to teach kids. The lily pads and the logs are cut out of craft foam and then I used a sharpie marker to make the lines.

Hands on play is a great way for kids to explore. Kids grow up so fast enjoy and cherish the time you have with them. Be sure to check out the great list of bloggers below.

This post is my contribution to "100 Days of Playchallenge.  The play challenge is about simple play ideas that you can do on a daily basis. Setting aside at least 30 uninterrupted minutes of play per day for the kids is great for them. You will find ideas for simple play that will let you connect with your kids without fancy play set ups or even fancier toys. New ideas are shared each day from 4/1 – 7/20 on various blogs. 100 Days of Play is brought to you by these wonderful bloggers:

Down on the Farm sensory play

Sensory bins are a great way for kids to explore and for use their imagination during play. The kids got

They've been having a blast playing with them so I decide to put together a farm sensory bin. I am not sure who had more fun mom putting it together or the kids playing with it.

I used hay, jello, cut up bushes from the yard and mud. Jake and Cate loved the mud play with the pigs and it's a fun science twist to add.

The pond for the ducks is made from jello, then just added some small rocks around it.

Below are some other sensory bins we have set up that you may like.

Pirates and beach sensory play

We are so ready for the warm weather and be able to play at the beach I set up a beach sensory play for the kids today using our Homemade moon sand and then added some blue jello for the water.

This sensory tub was easy to set up and very inexpensive. Along with the fun play, it is great for their imagination.

I gathered our ocean play toys, shells and some pirate play stuff. The kids played for at least a hour and then came back to it several times through out the day.

I even got some of our pirate treasure and hid them in the moon sand for them to find when they were digging. They loved it.

After they played a while I added some other toys to twist it up a little.

Jake was excited to find the treasure.

We love playing with different sensory bins, be sure to check out some of the others one we have done below.
