Flower pot carrot dirt dessert

I first saw this idea in the Disney Family Fun Magazine, but they made it with hummus last year and my kids will not eat hummus. I was going to make this treat last year and time past too fast.

So today Jake and I made brownies for daddy and took some of it for the dirt for our flower pot treat. Then to make the carrots I bought circus peanuts and sour punch straws from Walgreen's. Both cost less than a dollar. Picture below.

What you need to make the carrots.

1. Cut the licorice up in to 3 sections, then cut the top 3 quarters.
2. Use to toothpick and put a hole in the top of the peanuts
3. Put licorice in the hole and you will have a carrot.

These are super easy to make and great for a kid party or yummy treat.

15+ things you can do with Kool-Aid

Food coloring can get expensive using a lot of it, so I started using kool-aid in its place. Well it has worked great and has brought a lot of fun to our play.

There are so many ways you can use kool-aid. I have gathered a list of things we have done and over time there will be more to add, so be sure to check back.

Also, kool-aid is $.20.  What better way to have fun then to add a little scent to your play.

Note you can mix kool-aid in with store bought play-doh as well for a fun smell

       3. Kool-aid spray paint art

        5. You can make Kool-Aid lava for the volcano's.....makes the vinegar smell alittle better.

Don't have a post for this but we use this for the lava when we do volcano's with baking soda

             7. Make your own scented paints

        8. Kool-aid colored pasta

     9. Scented bath paints

                  11. Kool-aid tea party fun great for a hot day!!

     12. Yogurt paints

    13. Rainbow cupcakes

14. Dyed Eggs

We did this at Easter and all you have to do is add water and a little vinegar to the kool-aid and it dyed the eggs.

If you give a Cat a cupcake

We love all the books "If you give a" by Laura Joffe Numeroff. It makes "J" laugh each time we read them and we read them over and over.

So today we read "If you give a Cat a cupcake" and made rainbow cupcakes. They turned out so cute and colorful.

We mixed kool-aid to get the rainbow look, and the cupcakes tasted so YUMMY!!

Very fun little project to do with the kids tied in with this cute little book.

Materials:
White cake mix.....and the things listed on the box for the mix.
Then we placed mix in different bowls and added a sprinkle of the kool-aid mix to each bowl. Each bowl had a different color.

Rainbow treat cupcakes

Today for the summer Tuesday treat we made rainbow cupcakes. J had fun making them. He loves to bake so he was in heaven.

Just take any cake or cupcake mix and bake it like the box tells you. Then you will need rainbow airheads is what we used for the rainbow(got them in the candy section at Walgreens). And icing we used vanilla and colored it blue with Duncan Hines Frosting Creations(cotton candy).
