Scented pumpkin pie paper plate craft

We have been really big into making fun creative paper plate crafts this Fall, today I had "C" make a scented pumpkin pie using the pumpkin seeds from carving our pumpkin.

"J" didn't feel like doing a craft today.

Materials:
Paper plate
Duncan Hines pumpkin pie powder to mix in icing for cupcakes (used this cause it was only .79 cents) You can also add this to paint and just have the paint scented.
Paint
Pumpkin seeds
Glue

This is great for fine motor skills for little ones with the glue stick, painting, picking up pumpkin seeds and placing on the plate.

"C" is 2 yrs old.

Make your own Fall leaf magnets

I was in Wal-Mart the other looking at all the holiday stuff that is out and came across this silicone mold of leaves and pumpkins. It was $3.00 and so many things came to mind so I bought it.

The first fun thing we did with this was an ice sensory table. That was alot of fun.

Then I thought of this idea to make our own plaster of paris magnets. All you have to do is follow the direction on the box of the plaster paris then pour into the mold let it sit for several hours and they pop right out.

Let the kid paint them. These are great for party fun, gifts, or just to keep. Then I added a magnet on the back so we could place them on our refrigerator.

We got our plaster of paris at Wal-Mart for $4.97 and it was a big box.

Creative things to do with your pumpkins

We went to a Fall Festival this weekend and I loved all the fun ways that Butler's Orchard decorated their pumpkins without cutting them, so I decide to take pictures and share.

Love Halloween and all the fun creative things you get to see people come up with.

So creative to use the pumpkin to decorate and not even carve them.

If you are in the area this is a MUST go to Orchard. FUN, FUN, FUN. Located in Maryland.

Fall leaf number learning tree bath

We are learning the site of numbers and "J" always loves doing games in the tub. So I put together this Fall Number Tree for bath time.

I got the fall foam leaves from the Dollar section at Target and the tree as well. You can also, cut the leaves out of foam yourself. (Foam sticks to the wall when wet)

Wrote numbers on the leaves and got a bucket for "J" to put the leaves in when we were picking the number leaves from the tree. Below is the song I sang to him.

Song we sang: (Tune is to Are you Sleeping?)

Picking leaves
picking leaves
One by one
one by one
Put number (Blank) in the basket
put number (blank) in the basket
Oh what fun
Oh what fun

"J" really enjoyed playing this game.

If you like this learning activity you might want to check out our apple one as well. Apple learning tree

Hand print place mat keepsake

We took a Fall nature walk the other day to gather some pretty colorful leaves.  We made a fun keepsake place mat with the leaves and did a hand print turkey in the center.

This is a fun and easy craft to do with the kids.

Materials:
Paper cut to the size you want
Mod Podge glue
Leaves
Paint (we used brown cause we made a turkey hand print) this is optional as well
Paint brush

Then we laminated it. I took it to Staples and they did it for free but think it would have cost around $2.00. (Ask when you go if they give free samples cause you want to do it for a class project or say it is for a school)

To put together you just put your hand print on the paper, then glue the leaves.

NOTE: You don't want to let the leaves sit too long cause they get crispy and will crack when you laminate.

Scented Apple pie paper plate art

We have been doing fun things with apples for Fall, like apple picking, making baked apples, eating carmal apples, counting with apples, and so today we painted with them.

We like to do fun and easy crafts, so the other night I was thinking how I could make painting with apples different then all the ones you see on Pinterest.

Let's make a pretend apple pie and make it smell like one as well.

So "J" and "C" stamped their apples in the paint and put them on a paper plate, then sprinkled Apple Pie Spice on the top.

Boy did it smell yummy!!

Here is a link the apple game we made as well, great for counting and also has a song listed we sang.

Make your own Fall tree

It was a nice day so the kids and I went on a natural walk outside to fine some pine cones and leaves for a project.

Then "J" came across this nice branch laying on the ground and said, "mom, this would be nice to make our own tree." Then a light bulb when off in my head, so we brought it home and made a project.

Very inexpensive project and fun. We gathered different leaves and made our own Fall Tree.

This is a great fine motor activity for kids when rubbing the crayon over the leaves, then using the hole punch and twisting the pipe cleaning on the leaves.

Materials:
Paper
Fall colored crayons
Leaves
Nice tree branch
Hole puncher
Pipe cleaners
Scissors

You lay the leaf under the paper and rub the crayon over to make the imprints. They turned out so cool. We did different colors to make them look more Fall like.

Then cut the leaves out and punch a hole in the top, place pipe cleaner thru and hung on the tree.

"J" has showed everyone this tree, when he skyped the grand parents he showed them, then the neighbors. It was really cute how excited he got over the tree.

Make your own Fall door decoration

Since Fall is here, thought it would be nice for "J" to make something fun for the door. Plus it was a good way to get him to trace letters and he didn't even think about.

I was in the Dollar Tree the other day and saw this pack of 5 foam shapes and I grabbed a couple. The pack had leafs, pumpkins and an acorn shape in them for $1.00.

So I wrote "FALL" on the leaves and then had "J" make a smiley face on the circle for the word "HAPPY".

After that "J" traced the word FALL with the glitter glue to give it that pretty look. Fun way to get them to write and they don't even realize.

Materials:
Foam shapes
Yarn
Googly eyes
Hole puncher
Glitter pens

Fall time fun

I can't believe Fall time is almost here, where did the Summer go. I love doing things in the Summer, but Fall time is my favorite, changing of the leaves, apple cider, smell of a campfire, yummy food, and great festivals.

I could go on and on. I placed a list of fun things to do for the Fall time. Hope you and your family will be able to do some or all of them.

We will also be doing other fun Fall things like crafts, fun play, and learning. So please make sure you stop by to check it out.
