Fizzing Shape Art

We are working on shapes with Cate and I saw this great idea using popsicle sticks from A, Bee, C preschool. So I added our own little twist to it.

This is a fun and easy way for kids to learn shapes. After we put the shapes together I had the kids sprinkle kool-aid baking soda inside to make shape art. After the shape was formed they sprayed their vinegar on the shape and had fizzing shape art.

Materials:
Kool-Aid packet
Baking soda
Vinegar
Foam or popsicle sticks (we used foam sticks bought from the Dollar Tree)

This is a fun way to tie learning in with art, plus it is a great fine motor skill for preschoolers.

We love to add learning to our fun activities be sure to check out some other ways to below.

Teaching shapes while making fun pumpkin faces

Our favorite thing about Halloween is the pumpkins. "J' loves doing the pumpkin craving and picking out what to crave on the pumpkins, so I thought it would be fun to come up with a craft tied in with pumpkins.

So I picked up some felt pieces at the craft store and cut out a big circle in orange and then used black and cut out shapes and mouths.

"J" and "C" had fun making different faces with the felt piece.

This also is a great craft for little ones to learn different shapes. "J" knows his shapes, but "C" doesn't so when she would put a shape down I would say the shapes.

Easy and very inexpensive. Felt pieces are $.20 for a 8x11 sheet. I used 3 orange and 1 black

For the shapes I just used stuff to trace around the house.

Choo Choo into shape learning fun

We have been making fun things with shapes once a week for the past couple weeks. So this week we are featuring the fun shape train.

We used circles, squares and a heart. Then for the clouds we used cotton balls.

This is a fun way to teach shapes along with being creative.

Learning shapes in the sea

My son has really been into making things with shapes, so I have had to come up with some creative things.

We have been talking about the ocean and animals that live in the sea, cause we are going whale watching soon. So I came up with a boat in the sea.

We cut some of the shapes out with the cricut cause he is all into the machine and then used 1/2 of a paper plate for the boat part.

Materials:
paper plate
triangle
strip of paper
cotton balls(clouds)
glue
then extra stuff to decorate the the boat we used some buttons

Can you tell J doesn't like his hands messy.

Make art with shapes

We had my cricut machine out the other day and was cutting out shapes and having fun. So today we explored and made a truck with shapes. I had J play with the shapes and asked him if he puts them together could he make something.

Then he placed them together and was so happy Mom, "look I can make a truck." So we then glues them on the paper after exploring.

All you need is different shapes, this is a fun project to do for learning shapes and colors.

Materials:
Different shapes
Glue or tape
