We are working on numbers and counting, so I traced the body of a jelly fish to have J cut them out, then glue the pieces together. Nice cause we are working on fine motor skills and then counting when we place the pom poms on. Fun and easy project for the kids to do.

After we are done we hang it up on the wall and J just thinks thats the coolest thing.

Materials:
paper
glue
scissors
pom pom......or whatever you would like to use to count(buttons, beans, etc)

I spy letter.......

Over the weekend I went to a local thrift store and scored some really GREAT bargains. I got the big foam letters and numbers mat for $5.90, it was like new. I also got little square foam alphabet and number blocks that are good for stacking for $2.90. Love a deal!!

So it was cold and yucky out today, I took some of the foam letters and taped them different places in the house and we played I spy letter. Then J would go look for it and place it back on the mat. He really liked doing that.

Materials:
Foam mat
tape

1, 2, 3 look at my recycled tree

We are working on numbers and had fun making the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom alphabet tree, so thought we would make a 1,2,3 tree. Also, tied in great for the recycling projects for Earth Day.

Materials:
(3)Toilet paper roll or 1 paper towel roll and 1 toilet paper roll.
paint
marker
number stickers
shredded paper for center.....don't have to have that

I drew lines on the toilet paper roll for the top of the tree and had my 3yr old cut on the lines(great fine motor skill)
Then he painted the pieces and placed together

Let it dry, then write the numbers all over and have them match the stickers to the correct number.

J is funny he doesn't like his hands dirty

A is for Ant......fun with Egg carton

We were talking alittle about different bugs, so we took an egg carton(since we are doing recycled craft week for Earth Day) and made an ANT.

J thought this was pretty cool once it was done.

I hung it up that night and when he got up and saw it on the wall he just thought that was too cool. Funny how excited they get when you place their art work up on the walls.

Materials:
egg carton
2 buttons(eyes)
2 cut up pipe cleaners for the legs
paint if you want to paint the egg carton

Rhyming word learning

Fun way to get them to write with learning the words that rhyme. My son loves to trace words with the glitter glue sticks so I thought hey I can write words in the RECYCLED box from Aldi, since we are talking about saving the earth with Earth day coming.

This is an easy activity to put together and  great for letter formation and word recognition.

Materials:
Food box
glitter glue pens or chalk....or whatever your little one likes to trace with.
Marker.....write the words to trace

Flour sensory fun

We had a beautiful Spring day outside today so we decided to have some fun with water on the deck. O we added some flour to the mix as well.Over the weekend we took out all the Spring/Summer toys for the deck cause the weather looks like we are going to have some hot days to play.

We had the Little Tikes mud pie from last Summer and my son had a blast with it, have to say it is not the sturdiest toy. So thinking about it decided to take the mixer part and drill it to the sensory table, cause after all that is the best part of the toy.

Then the neighbor had the same toy and was trashing hers so I took the mixer off hers. 2 for 1 better deal.

Well have to say this was a hit.......spent hours playing.

We found this place thur Certifikid....they were running a deal for the weekend so we bought it. Thanks for the idea. We had a great family day.

R is for Recycled Rocket

Today we read the boy Curious George and the Rocket, so we made a rocket for the letter R. Cute little book to go along with making a rocket.

We are also working on numbers so it is fun to do the count down for blast off.

Took paper towel roll for the base and then for the top of the rocket used left over plastic egg.

After making this rocket my 3yr old son played with it all day. Kept doing the blast off and then got a stick and was acting like it was the launch pad.
