Mother's Day Pirate Adventure

We have been reading some Pirate books and my son loves the boat in the books, so I saw this Pirate Boat Adventure advertisement and looked into it. Great idea geared all around kids.

The kids can get painted tattoo's and dress up before they get on the boat. Then, once the boat sails they tell the kids a story and the kids have to help look around to find the treasure in the water. Looking for the "X".
Once they find the "X" then they stop and pull the treasure box out of the water and the kids get a bag full of treasure.

The kids liked it. Think it is geared for alittle older kids like 5 and older. But was a neat adventure.

Pretend building imaginary play

My son was playing on the deck today and kept coming in and out to get his tools, so I asked him what are you doing, "Mom, I am building a deck like the guys next door."

So I walked with him to the deck and he said, "Mom you can't go out here you might fall I am not finished building." Too funny and he had his cones blocking the door way to not come outside.

This age is so much fun with imaginary play. Love the things they come up with.

Every time the guys used their tool, Jake picked up the one like it and used his. Then later that day he came inside after the men went home and said, "Mom I need some wood so I can mark and cut it for tomorrow." He was really into watching the deck process.







 

After Jake played a little we sat down and measured the wood with the tape measure. Marked different numbers on the wood. Also, talked about what each tool and how to use them.




Recycled dish washing sensory fun

Pulled out another recycled item I saved and we did dish washing recycle sensory fun today. It is cracking me up at all the fun the kids are having.

Summer comes and what do we do run to the store to buy water toys for the kids and spend all this money, why when they seem to have more fun with recycled items from around the house.

I washed this container several times before we used it.

Materials:
Dish washer soap bottle
Dish soap or bath bubbles.....I poured the soap in the container and J added the water.
Toy dishes, I added some plastic spoons/forks

Filling the ice cube trays...great eye/hand coordination

Squirting fun....kids love squirt toys.

Home made colored sand

I have been wanting to make some color sand projects with my son, cause it brings back great memories as a child. We always made these with my mom or when we went to fairs.

So the other day I went into the craft store to get some and couldn't believe the price of colored sand. I didn't buy any and went home alittle sad, until I was out with my son drawing with colored chalk and it kept rubbing off on my hands and a light went off....lol.

After we were done I came inside and got some salt and colored chalk and we made our own....very easy and cheap.

Materials:
paper or we used wax paper
colored chalk......pack of 4 in the $1. section at Target
salt.... $0.34 at Wal-Mart 27oz bottle

Pattern fun with fruit loops

We have been talking about patterns, so my son wanted to play with play doh and I took it out. I added some fruit loops and spaghetti with the play, we had fun.

He never used food with his play doh, only made pretend food with it. Have to say it was fun. This is a great fine motor skill along with eye and hand coordination.

Canvas paint fun

Mother's Day canvas painting fun.  This is something fun and easy. My 3 yr old loved it and my 19 month daughter wanted to help to and she did some.

Materials:
acrylic paint
canvas....we used 5x7
stickers
mod podge

Home Depot........FREE

1st Saturday of every month Home Depot does a free make and take project for the kids. They say ages 5-12 years old, but we took our 2 today and they are 3 and 19 months and both got to make a planter. There was other preschool aged kids as well.

Was alot of fun, my son was so excited and that gave him an apron and for every project you make they give you a pin to place on your apron. Very cool.

This one is my favorite of C.....she was trying to make her own handprints on the wood.

J was so proud of his planter.

DYI letter frame

I made this frame for my mom for Mother's Day of the kids. Was so simple.

I got a frame from IKEA 11x14
Bought wood letters from Michael's....used 50% off coupon so each letter was $2.00 only bought 1 M and 1 E.
Bought black and white poster board from Wal-Mart.
Cut out the sizes I needed and mod podge it all together.


Was a little tough to do with my 19 month old but we got it. My mom loved it she cried.

Car wash fun with Tricycle

My son is so into this car wash thing. He wants to take the car for a car wash everyday. The funny thing about 4 months ago he was scared of them. Then one day I said Mommy is going to take you and he started crying say no mommy, no mommy. I said it's ok Daddy can drive and I will sit back in the back with you.
I did and ever since then he has loved it. It's funny how sometimes the simplest things give them fears.

This was funny he said mom you have a towel to dry my car.....love this kid.

Fun with paint, stickers and tiles

We are making some Mother's day gifts for the family....thought we would share this fun and very easy project.

Materials:
tile....we used 6x6 get at Home Depot
Letter stickers
paint we used acrylic
mod podge or I used polyurethane spray( can get both at Michaels)

Place stickers on tile, then paint, let it dry then peel stickers off and mod podge or spray to seal. Fun and easy.
