How to keep mold out of bath or water toys

Kids love bath and water toys so you are bound to buy some or even get some as gifts for little ones. My son loved the rubber duckies for bath when he was little. You would buy them and after several baths the water would store inside and cause mold. YUCK!!

Good thing I didn't invest too much in squeeze toys with him. But my daughter well she loves all those toys and we went to Disney several months ago and my mom bought Cate the princess collection of squeeze toys for the bath. I didn't want them messed up so I kept them from going in the bath.

Well now I don't have to worry about it. YEAH!! Thanks to the great mom's over at We Love Being Moms with their GREAT idea to hot glue the hole so you get no mold.

I did this great trick and it works!!

All you need is a glue gun, can buy one at the Dollar Tree. Heat it up, then fill the hole with the glue and let it dry. I applied 2 layers of glue to seal good and let it sit for couple minutes. Worked great!! See picture below.

Easter egg hunt bubble bath

The kids love themed baths during the holidays, cause I go all out. We took out our eggs from last year and I filled them with small toys around the house . Then I filled the tub with bubbles and colored them green like grass. Decorated around the tub with the window clings from Dollar Tree(they stick great to the tub and bath wall when wet)

Then had the kids come in and gave them their baskets and they hunted for eggs under the bubbles.

No joke we have done this bath 3 times now since I set it up last week. Jake is into it more then Cate, but they both loves doing it. 

Super fun and great memories to make with your little ones.

We did this in the bath tub, but you can do it in a sensory bin like we did our firework bubbles.

Homemade scented bath paints

We love bath time it is one of our favorite times together. We are always doing something fun and creative. While playing the other night I mixed some kool-aid in with the kids Johnson and Johnson's bath soap and it worked well for paint and colored bubble bath.

We use to paint with our shaving cream bath paints, but Cate has sensitive skin and so we had to stop using it. The bath soap and kool-aid worked great  cause it is for sensitive skin and it's also great cause it is tear free for their eyes.

Note: You can use the Target brand as well it works just like the Johnson and Johnson's baby bath.

We used our bath paints to paint Easter eggs. We also did a Peter Cotton Tail Bunny that we decorated like our Frosty the snowman bath we did at Christmas.

To do this bath all you need is craft foam and cut the shapes you need. Craft foam acts like stickers in the tub when it is wet. They stick to the wall and the bath.

The nice thing about these paints is that you can paint on craft foam over and over again and  it washes right off. So you can use the foam eggs for multiple fun baths. Jake even painted on the plastic eggs as well.

Then we sang the song in the bath while putting Peter Rabbit together.

Shamrock rainbow alphabet learning bath

I love to watch the kids learn through play and so I put together a fun Alphabet matching and spelling learning game for bath.

This is a fun and simple bath and can also be used outside the bath as well. 

All you need is foam shamrocks and letters from the Dollar Tree. If you didn't know when craft foam is wet it works like a sticker on the tub or wall. We also used a spin chart I got in the Target dollar section for a little extra fun...spin the wheel and find the letter.

This game can also be used outside the bath, all you need is a dry erase board. If you take a squirt bottle and damp the foam it will stick to the dry erase board or even a chalk board.

I would spell a word and "J" had to find the letters and put them in order.

With toddlers you can have them find the letters and tell them what it is and then have them repeat after you. That is what we did with "C".

They really enjoyed this bath and is a great way to tie in learning.

Make your own bath water wall

Over the summer we made a fun outdoor water wall and the kids had a blast. The kids have been asking to play with it but it is WAY too cold to play with water outside. So we went to the hardware store and got the stuff to make one for the bath.

Materials:
Clear tubing from hardware store
PVC connectors 1/2 in and the tubing fit right in them.
Duct tape to tape to the wall

We got both the tubing and pvc connectors at Lowe's. Tubing was $.31 a foot and the connectors were $.21 to .34. I bought 10 feet of tubing and we had extra left over.

The kids had a blast and kept feeling the tubing with colored water to watch it go threw the tubes. This is a great eye/hand coordination and fine motor skill for the kids. As well as fun.

They had a blast and then took some of the tubing down and blew bubbles like it was a big straw.

DIY recycled Valentine's lantern

We love doing recycled crafts and at Halloween we made these super easy and fun Ghost/pumpkin lanterns. "J" still has these out to light and loves them. So the other night I asked him if he would like to make a Valentine's lantern and he was excited.

So I picked up some fun Valentine's tissue paper at Target in the dollar section and we made them.

Materials:

Baby food jar (glass)

Tissue paper

Mod Podge

Foam paint brush
Tea light candle or I use the fake tea lights so the kids can put them on and off.

Then just layer using the mod podge and let it dry. This is a great craft to do with kids. After it is dry you light them or put the fake candle in the jar and let them turn it on for a candle light dinner or even a fun bath (see picture below).

We did a fun bath. I decorated the bath all up for Valentine's using our stuff from our Valentine's counting bath and made it a candle light bath. The kids loved it.

Valentine themed learning dice bath game

We have been working on counting and number learning. So I put together a fun dice game for "J" and "C" to do in the bath. They really liked it. The nice thing is there is so many different things you can do with this fun game.

Materials:

Heart dice (2 for $1.00 at Target)

Heart shaped foam (10 for $1.00)

Plastic heart table scatter pieces (20 for $1.00) These can be reused to make a fun Valentine's sun catcher.

Plastic heart containers (10 for $1.00 at Dollar Tree)

We rolled the dice and "J" had to fine the numbers and count the Valentine treasures. We did some simple math problems. He had a really fun time with this bath.

Homemade scented bubble bath paints

Make your own scented bubble bath for kids. Tear free and safe for sensitive skin. We have used the shaving cream bath paints in the past but every time my daughter uses them she brakes out in a rash. So we had to stop using them in the bath.

I wanted to come up with something that they could paint with as well as makes bubbles in the bath. So you get a dual purpose out of it. Then the other night while washing them an idea clicked.


Mix a kool-aid packet and  Johnson's baby bath for sensitive skin together and you get a fun bath paint along with scented/colored bubble bath.

NOTE: We have used the Target brand as well and works good.

We used the paints to paint our Easter eggs for the bath, the great things about these paints are that you can wash it right off the foam and paint again.

For this bath we used craft foam I cut out the bunny shapes and eggs and the kids made bunny faces like we did at Christmas for our Frosty Bath and painted their eggs.

Make your own kid safe scented oil paint

I am always exploring new ways to come up with things for the little ones to explore sensory play, fall time I saw this new Duncan Hines Frosting creations in pumpkin flavor and so we used it to make our scented pumpkin pie craft and the kids loved it.

So I thought about using it to make a fun oil paint for the bath for the kids and it worked great and smelled so good. You can also use it on white paper for kids to make fun pictures.

Materials:

Cooking oil (we used vegetable oil)

Duncan Hines Frosting creation pack(can find at most grocery stores down the baking aisle) 

To make I mixed 2 teaspoons of cooking oil and couple sprinkles of scented Duncan Hines frosting mix.

"C" loved smelling the paint brush, she kept saying "yummy momma, yummy" I liked doing this cause it gives you a better variety than kool-aid  cause there are 15 different scents to use.


Today we used  Cotton Candy, White Chocolate Raspberry, Strawberry Shortcake and Orange Creme

Snowman sensory winter bath fun

The kids had so much fun with our building Frosty bath and "J" asked when we were going to do another fun Frosty bath.

So I pulled out the Frosty foam set I made and added some scented shaving cream to the bath to make snowmen. Then they added the foam stickers to the shaving cream pile and loved it.

I also added alittle blue food coloring to the bath.

They had so much fun playing with the shaving cream adding their foam bath stickers to it. You can also do this sensory play in a plastic storage container to if you don't want to do it in the bath.
