Holiday scented sensory cloud dough

We played with Cloud dough for the first time back in February and "J" loved it. Now that "C" is old enough to play with it thought it would be fun to put together a sensory bin with a theme like The Imagination Tree did.

If you have never been to her site you have to check it out she has inspired me to do more Themed sensory bins. GREAT stuff and fun.

The things you can do with your kids are endless with sensory bins.

Materials:
Flour
Vegetable oil
Warm sugar cookie oil (optional) we got this from the the candle/oil section at Wal-Mart or you can use peppermint extract

If you are making this for a younger kid (that puts things in their mouth) don't recommend using the oil, but you can add cooking extract for a nice scent.

Then I gathered things I had on hand around the house that were baking related and the kids had a blast.

If you have never made this cloud dough is it so soft, but forms when you squeeze or pat it. It does make a mess so I placed a big table cloth under the kids, it was too cold to go outside.

Nature man using paper plate

This week we will be working on the letter (Nn) is for Nature. Since we have a BIG storm (SANDY) coming our way and will have some days inside due to the rain.

We went on a Nature walk over the weekend and collected fun nature things to do something different each day with nature.


So today we made a leaf man.

Materials:
Nature stuff
Paper plate
Glue
Contact paper(don't have to use we just did to keep the leaves. from drying and getting crispy)

 

 

 

 

We will be doing Nature related stuff for the whole week so be sure to check back.

Pumpkin person

We love to make crafts and momma loves all the fun keepsakes of the hand/foot prints to see how the kids grow each year.

So if you have been following you know we have been doing alot of fun crafts for Halloween with paper plates. If you haven't seen them be sure to check them out here.

Today we made Mr. Pumpkin. Painted the paper plate orange, put our foot prints on a white piece of paper and cut them out, then glued the face and feet onto the pumpkin plate.

You can add hand prints as well but we didn't this time.

Fun, easy and again inexpensive.

"J" was so cute laughing at his pumpkin, he said "mom, he has no arms." Laughing like crazy.

50+ fun and different themed sensory play

Sensory play is such a GREAT way for little ones to explore and learn about what is around them. So what better way for them to learn and explore then setting up a different themed sensory bin.

I know there are some parents out there that think this is too messy and too time consuming, but trust me if you have never done it please just do it one time and see the joy it will bring to your kid(s) face. Also, the hours of fun play!!

Below I listed some sensory bins we have done and other moms as well,  to get you started if your not sure how to go about setting one up.

We set our sensory bins up in our water table, a clear tub and also we got a cement mixing bin from Home Depot $5.00(we have got SO much use out of that, well worth the money).

DIY.....Spider party favor bag

I love putting together party's and this year "J" is old enough to enjoy a Halloween party so we are having one. I wanted to make something fun for the kids to take their treats home in so the idea came to me when we were making fun Halloween plates.

 

This is super easy and very inexpensive to make.

 

"J" painted the plates, and stapled the pipe cleaners to the plate for me. This is a great fine motor craft for kids.

 

 

 

 Supplies are listed in the picture below.

 

 

 

Cut the plate in half and then staple the outside.


Paint the outside of the plate black, then cut the 2 pipe cleaners into 4 pieces for each side of the plate, after that staple the legs on and the string, place your eyes on and you have a cute party favor bag.

 

The picture below shows the favor bag full of goodies. I got some orange grass from Target dollar section stuffed with that. Then added stickers, pencils and a lollipop. You can fill with whatever you would like.
