Pirate fun bath

"J" loves Jake and the Never Land Pirates so this whole pirate week he is loving!!

Tonight we did a pirate bath, J really liked this. Filled the tub with blue food coloring, added shells, treasure, necklaces, and put the pirate boat in the bath. Have to say it was too cute listening to J pretend play. He loves that word ARRR.

Then I got a couple pirate books we have and read them to him.

Pirate day 2.....water bead sensory

We had alittle bit of rain so we played inside for alitte, then it stopped raining so we went on the deck. We have the Little Tike Pirate ship water table from last year, so I took that out from the basement and added some fun things for the kiddos to explore.

Water beads
Blue water
Shells
Cups

J wanted the water to come out the top, but it doesn't work. We have to get a replacement.

So after using the hose for alittle , J didn't want to keep playing. Funny how kids get their minds set and want what they want.

Pirate Week Day 1

We went on a Pirate boat for Mother's Day and my son loved it. So I thought it would be fun to do a Pirate week with him.

Today we made a floater boat( not sure that's the right name) but this is what we are going to call it. We saw this little boat on Alvin Ship recked when we did movie night Friday and J said,"Mom, lets make one of those boats looks like fun."

Materials:
Glue
Popsicle sticks
Paint if you would like to paint it....J didn't want to do that.

After the boat dried J wanted to play in the water with it, so I added the treasure we got from our Pirate Boat ride and added some shells like the ocean. The kids had fun, even Miss C wanted to join in on the fun with Big Brother.

Scooping up alphabets

We were out and about enjoying the weather on the deck today. My 19 month old loves playing in the water, so I placed the foam alphabets in the tub.

She got her garden tool and started scooping up the letters. Thought is was too cute. She was having fun.

Ice Cream Sundae shaving cream

For some fun sensory play we mixed colored water, shaving cream and colored salt to make ice cream sundae's. My son thought this was the coolest thing.

Materials:
Salt/Food coloring....mixed this up to make sprinkles for the ice cream
Shaving cream.....whip topping
Water with food coloring....was the ice cream

I put the colored salt in salt and pepper shakers to have a little fun. You can get all this from the Dollar Tree.

Recycled water fun

Well we all know kids love water right, well we are so ready for it to be nice and hot outside. Today we had one of those days. So we took some recycled items around the house and had a fun tea party.

I finally finished the Gain laundry soap so we could play with the container, my son had a blast. He used it as a water dispenser, now I have to say didn't think of that one.

Love the imagination of a kid!!!

After alittle play I added some colored ice, food coloring, Kool-Aid mix and salt(for the spice) to the mix to have the play last alittle longer. As mom's we all need alittle down time.....lol

Recycled bird feeders

We love to watch the birds come up to our deck and eat the seeds, so I had "J" make a fun and easy bird feeder using recycled materials.

Materials:
Toilet paper roll
string
peanut butter
bird seed
hole puncher

I punched 2 holes on the toilet paper, had J put the string thru them and I tied them. Then he spread PB all over the toilet paper roll, then rolled it in the bird seed.
Easy and fun. Then hung it up for the bird to enjoy.

Once we finished "J" placed on our hanger off the deck. He got a kick out of it cause the squirrels found their way up our deck to eat the food.

Mother's Day Pirate Adventure

We have been reading some Pirate books and my son loves the boat in the books, so I saw this Pirate Boat Adventure advertisement and looked into it. Great idea geared all around kids.

The kids can get painted tattoo's and dress up before they get on the boat. Then, once the boat sails they tell the kids a story and the kids have to help look around to find the treasure in the water. Looking for the "X".
Once they find the "X" then they stop and pull the treasure box out of the water and the kids get a bag full of treasure.

The kids liked it. Think it is geared for alittle older kids like 5 and older. But was a neat adventure.
