Chocolate dough sensory fun

J loves to play with flour and make the dough, so we explored with adding chocolate syrup to it to make chocolate dough.

Then after J and C played and explored alittle we make some cupcakes and had alittle pretend play.

This was great for exploring textures and mixing things together.

Materials:
Flour
Chocolate syrup
Water

Learning shapes in the sea

My son has really been into making things with shapes, so I have had to come up with some creative things.

We have been talking about the ocean and animals that live in the sea, cause we are going whale watching soon. So I came up with a boat in the sea.

We cut some of the shapes out with the cricut cause he is all into the machine and then used 1/2 of a paper plate for the boat part.

Materials:
paper plate
triangle
strip of paper
cotton balls(clouds)
glue
then extra stuff to decorate the the boat we used some buttons

Can you tell J doesn't like his hands messy.

Eye/hand coordination DIY duck tape beads

What a great fun way to make your own beads with milkshake straws and duck tape. We had strung cut up straw on shoe laces in the past.

Thought it would be cool to have your own design since duck tape has so many colors and prints.

This is an inexpensive way to make a great game for your little one to help with eye/hand coordination and fine motor skills.

Materials:
duck tape
milkshake straws(the hole is bigger)

A,B,C painting in the bath

C is really loving to paint, so I thought it would be fun to paint in the bath. I did it in the bath cause she is my mess child and loves to paint more than the paper.

 I filled the paint tray with WASHABLE tempera paints gave them brushed and they had fun.

Then I added the foam alphabet stamps to the mix and had them do letters. My son knows the alphabets so we worked on words.

Then they had some fun and did body painting.

 

 

 

 

Materials:

I placed poster board paper 2 sheets on wall with duct tape for them the paint on.

Paint brushes

Washable paint

Foam alphabet stamps

Make your own kids tricycle wash with pvc pipes

Every time we are out and "J" sees a car wash he wants to take the car in for a wash. So I saw this idea on Pinterest to make a car wash out of pvc pipes.


So I took "J" to Home Depot and we got all the materials that were needed for this project.

20 connectors.....10 of each  above they are 1/2 in.

Have to say it was pretty easy to put together and "J" was all into connecting the pieces together. Can't say I was too sure that it would work, but it did. Love when projects come through.

Materials:
5...10ft 1/2in pvc pipes we had the guy at Home Depot cut them in half
2 different connector pieces (can see in picture above)
Sponges from around the house and grabbed some from Dollar Tree
Pool Noodles as side bumpers.
3/4 hose connector as well and we used duct tape to connect it to the 1/2 pvc pipe(can see in picture)
Drill...to drill holes in the pvc.
"C" loved it more than "J" did. All "J" did was want to put it together. Then we took it out when their cousins came to stay for a couple days and "J" loved to play in it. So guess it all depends on the mood.

It works as a great sprinkler then when you are done take it apart store it and then place together again.

Total cost was about $28. which is what you would pay for the plastic summer toys and this can be used for other projects later.

Texture block painting

The kids love to paint so tonight J wanted to do a painting project. I took out the foam blocks and set up some washable paints.

We painted with different texture foam blocks on paper. Then J wanted to build with them on the paper.

Was a fun little project. Then I cut out a section of the painting and framed it to place in the play room for decorations.

Right before bed.....can you tell "C" is tired?

J started building with the blocks.

 Then we put all the blocks in the sensory bin, filled it up with bubbles and water.....wash, wash, wash.

Spin paint art using a lazy susan

We love to do different things with paint and art, so when I did a post couple weeks ago 100 ways to paint without using a brush I came across this fab idea from Here Comes the Girls. So after I saw this post I bought a lazy susan at a thrift store for $3.90, score. Great deal and it was a good size one.

Then we taped paper onto the lazy susan and painted away. My son has asked to do this at least 3 times when the last week. Fun project.
