Rainbow Magic Snowball Science

We've had so much fun playing with our Make your own snow that I thought it would be fun to make Magic Snowballs. Well it was a BIG hit, the kids loved it.

Click here to see how to make the fake snow play. Then all you need is vinegar and kool-aid packets.

I mixed 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water with the kool-aid so you don't use so much vinegar.

Because the main ingredient is baking soda, it will keep erupting over and over. The kids played with this for more than a hour.

We made alot of snow and it cost less than $5.00 for this sensory play with all the ingredients.

4lbs of baking soda is $2.24 at Wal-Mart (on the cleaning aisle)
1 gallon of vinegar $2.38 at Wal-Mart (that is alot)
Kool-aid packets $.20
Hair conditioner  $1.00 (Dollar Tree)
Silver glitter(optional) From Craft Project ideas
I loved the look that the glitter added to this fun play

For over an hour of play we didn't even use half the gallon of vinegar.

Below is snowballs made again after all the vinegar was mixed in. You can see it erupted again and again.

Thanks for stopping by to see what fun stuff we are doing. Be sure to come follow us on

  1. Where did you get the bottles? Where did you put the glitter? I don't see it in the pics?
